Baby Boomers Dominate US Housing Market
Baby Boomers (born 1944–1964) continue to dominate the US home buying market, representing about 42% of recent home buyers. Gen X buyers (born 1965 – 1979) accounted for 25% of recent home buyers, Millennial buyers (born 1980 – 1998) represented 26%, Gen Z buyers (born 1999 – 2011) comprised 4%, and the Silent Generation (born 1925 – 1945) made up 4% of recent US home buyers.
