Richard Rodgers’ Connecticut Home Has Everything
The 39-acre home in Fairfield, Connecticut, where composer Richard Rogers lived from 1965 until he died in 1979, is for sale at $15 million. The mid-century-modern home with seven bedrooms has almost every possible feature, including a pool house and pool, a heated paddle court, and is surrounded by fields and meadows. The property also features a stone guesthouse, an office pavilion, solar and geothermal systems, a water filtration system, two laundries, slate roofing, heated parking, a dog washing station, and a wine room.
Working first with Lorenz Hart and later with Oscar Hammerstein, Rodgers was one of the most successful composers of the post World War I years, writing 43 Broadway musicals from the 1920s to the 1950s. A few of his most popular works include Oklahoma!, Pal Joey, The Sound of Music and South Pacific. He was the first person to win an Emmy, a Grammy, a Tony, and an Oscar.
