Rubber Town Named Best Retirement City
According to GoBankingRates, Akron, Ohio, whose nickname is “The Rubber Capital of the World,” is the most affordable city in the United States for retirement. GoBankingRates analyzed the 100 largest US cities with at least 10 percent of their residents aged 65 and older. According to their calculations, a senior needs less than $1,700 per month in Akron to cover expenses. They found that Akron also has good walkability and a large number of parks, stores and restaurants. Albuquerque, New Mexico and Spokane, Washington were the second and third-highest ranked cities.
